With the announcement earlier this week that beauty is allowed to reopen its doors again on the 12th April, it seems the UK was excited to visit the salon again as booking platform Treatwell reported a huge 432 per cent spike in bookings just moments after Prime Minister Boris broke the good news.
What are we all booking with our tiny bit of newfound freedom to look forward to? This is what was at the top of the list on Treatwell:
- Haircuts and Hairdressing
- Hollywood Wax
- Two Week Manicure
- Hair Colouring
- Men’s Haircut
Broken down, Treatwell reported that the most booked appointments so far are hair treatments at 47%, followed by face treatments at 18%, hair removal also at 18%, followed by nail treatments at 9% and finally massage treatments saw 8% of bookings.
We asked Treatwell whether there were any trends in the treatments that customers have been flocking to book and, not surprisingly, the booking platform confirmed that although they’ve seen a ‘significant increase in balayage…highlight bookings are the true winner. We have seen a steep increase in bookings for a full head particularly’.
As for face treatments, ‘eyebrow threading and tinting are blowing up. Putting those two together, a statement brow looks to remain a go-to look this spring and summer’.
And, with ‘maskne‘ ravaging the nation’s skin over the past year, it’s also unsurprising to hear that facials have seen a sharp increase in bookings on Treatwell too.
