To get access to some of the world’s best holiday experiences, you might think that you need to jet off to a far-flung location. But according to TripAdvisors’ Travellers’ Choice awards, there’s at least one option that’s much closer to home.
The annual event has crowned The 25 Boutique B&B in Torquay, Devon ‘the best B&B’ on the entire globe. The five-star hotel, located on the picturesque English Riviera, is the only UK business to make it to world No 1 in the awards this year.
With six boutique bedrooms, each featuring quirky decor, stand-alone bathtubs and technological perks like voice-activated TVs, The 25 offers a sophisticated take on the classic B&B experience. ‘Premium features like powerful showers, Nespresso coffee makers, iPads, fluffy bathrobes & free movies on demand,’ the website declares.
The B&B’s owners, Andy and Julian Banner-Price, said of the accolade: ‘We were absolutely thrilled to hear that The 25 has been named as the best B&B in the world.
‘We love creating special and memorable experiences for our guests and receiving their excellent reviews makes our hard work truly rewarding.’
Hayley Coleman of TripAdvisor added: ‘Many hospitality awards select winners with a panel of judges but the travellers’ choice awards are different; they are based on feedback from actual guests over the past year.’
‘The B&B has long held its status as a British institution, so it’s great to see the UK recognised worldwide for doing the B&B best.’
Indeed, The 25 Boutique B&B is one of five UK B&Bs ranked in the world’s top 10 for 2019. Bindon Bottom B&B in West Lulworth, Dorset, ranked in third place, while The Grange in Fylingthorpe, North Yorkshire, and Swallows Rest in Brigstock, Northamptonshire, took fourth and fifth spots respectively.
If you want to pay a visit, you should note that The 25 is for over-18’s only, and rooms start from £169 per night. Oh, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for adorable resident schnauzer Pasty – we can’t think of a better welcome!
