Finding the perfect present for friends or relatives who are getting married can be hard. But thanks to some handy newly released data, the wedding season ahead could be much easier to shop for than years gone by.

Online gift registry The Wedding Shop has revealed the items that are most wanted by newlywed brides and grooms, and the results are very interesting.

After analysing thousands of lists compiled over the last 12 months, the researchers found that more than 80 per cent of couples still ask for traditional presents – this includes everything from glassware and bed linen to crockery.

Luckily for us, they also highlighted that the top ten most popular gift options cover a range of budgets, with prices starting from as little as £5. Now that’s what we like to hear.

So, you’re probably wondering what topped the list? It turns out the White Company’s hydrocotton white towels is what most couples are hoping for when they unwrap their wedding presents.

Hydrocotton Towels, from £5, The White Company

Prices for the towels start at £5 for a face towel and go up to a super jumbo sized towel for £52,  while the complete set of five towels will cost you £135.

Breakfast in Bed Tray, £65, The White Company

At second place was yet another product by The White Company. It is a £65 white lacquer tray, specifically designed for romantic breakfasts in bed. That’s right, apparently newly-wed life really is all about spoiling one another with a decadent morning meal!
