The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is truly a once in a lifetime event, and one that definitely calls for a major celebration. The festivities won’t be complete without a little Jubilee-themed food and drink, and as we expected, Waitrose has stepped up to the plate with a selection of treats to help us get into the party spirit.
Here’s what Waitrose has on offer to mark Her Majesty’s Jubilee weekend…
Waitrose Platinum Jubilee food and drink
Platinum Jubilee booze
We’ll all be raising a toast to the Queen during the Platinum Jubilee, and one fabulous way to do so with a bottle of limited edition Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial Champagne (£46, 75cl), available exclusively at Waitrose.
This bottle has been given a Jubilee makeover. The iconic fizz inside has a lively, intense bouquet of red summer fruits, floral nuances and a hint of pepper.
Available to buy exclusively in shops and online from 25 May.
Another Waitrose exclusive is the Buckingham Palace Gin (£40).
This citrusy gin has been made using twelve botanicals handpicked in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, making it the ideal spirit to sip over the Jubilee weekend. Serve with ice, tonic, a slice of lemon and a sprig of your favourite fresh herb.
Available online and in Waitrose shops now.
Platinum Jubilee cakes
Of course, making your own Jubilee cakes is the most fun of all, but if you don’t have time (or the inclination!) then you can buy some lovely treats in the supermarkets. M&S may have proffered up a Corgi cake and Jubilee yumnuts, but Waitrose is also in on the game, with Jubilee Fairy Cakes (£6 for six) that are topped with fondant icing and decorated with edible Union flags, bunting and a crown.
Available in shops from 18 May.
Platinum Jubilee pies
Nothing says party like a jazzy pie, does it? Waitrose have given their pork pies a makeover, with the Jubilee Fluted Pork Pie (£3, 400g) made using select cuts of British pork encased in hot water crust pastry and hand-finished with a pastry crown. Serve with a creamy blue cheese, fruity chutney and a leafy salad.
Available at Waitrose deli counters from 25 May.
