Topshop is one of the most reliable destinations on the British high street, with new-in pieces every single week that inspire us to hit ‘add to basket’. But we’ve not fallen in love with any other line quite as quickly as the new Topshop IDOL line, a pre-fall offering which arrived on its website this week.
The collection ‘elevates the rock and roll essence of the ’80s with a modern premium feel,’ says Topshop, and looking at the details of each piece, the influence is clear to see. From paisley prints to acid-wash denim, leather accessories and lace accents, this is a seriously cool, contemporary take on new romantic trends.
‘Hardware, snakeskin and leather details give the collection a tough-girl edge. The styling is key. Add contrast with vintage floral prints, rah-rah skirts and sheer ruffle tops,’ the brand adds.
Footwear is just as key as the garments: continuing 2019’s Western influence, there’s ankle and thigh-high boots, as well as mules and studded sandals to help you squeeze the most out of the remaining summer months.
And despite the fact that Topshop IDOL is billed as a premium line, it’s certainly not unreasonably priced – dresses come in around the £50 mark, with lower price points for tops and blouses and higher for quality leather shoes.
Now that the secret is out, we don’t imagine the range will stay in stock for long. Here are just a few more of our favourites to snap up while you still can – after all, it’s never to early for new season steals.
