When you think of current fashion trends, it can be tricky to think beyond loungewear, cosy jumpers and warm slippers.
But for those of us who have developed quite the online shopping habit during lockdown, there are some pretty inescapable trends sweeping designer brands and high street stores alike.
Every few months, global fashion shopping platform Lyst releases an edition of ‘The Lyst Index’, which is their quarterly report ranking fashion’s hottest brands and products.
To track down the most popular women’s products and trending fashion items of the moment, Lyst’s formula filters more than eight million items by volume of social media mentions, searches, page views, interactions and sales across thousands of online stores. They group colours for styles, and take into account global demand per volume of stock available.
Unsurprisingly, The North Face’s padded puffer – which comes in an assortment of colours – topped the list, loved by fashion insiders, influencers and celebrities including Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber. So popular is the often sold out item, that it’s now the number one searched item on re-sell fashion site Depop, where searches for the timeless jacket have increased more than 400 per cent in the past two months.
Elsewhere, the trend for chunky winter boots and loungewear – including UGG boots and a velour hoodie from Kim Kardashian-West’s brand SKIMS – continue to dictate our shopping trends.
These were officially the top 10 most popular and trending fashion items between October 2020 to the end of December 2020 – and where you can buy them right now…
