Whether or not you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on a bag of flour during quarantine, chances are you’ve been doing more than your fair share of baking. And it seems that the simpler the idea, the more we love it – as demonstrated by the two-ingredient Nutella cake that’s going viral, and the TikTok peanut butter cookies that the internet can’t stop making (neither of which actually require flour at all, we might add).
The cookie recipe originated on the US-based TikTok account @foodies, whose tutorial video has received over 5.5 million views, and spawned thousands of videos of people trying it out for themselves.
But you don’t have to download the app to experience the delights of the amazingly easy recipe for yourself – in fact, it’s so quick and straightforward, you can have your batch ready to eat in less than 20 minutes.
TikTok peanut butter cookie recipe
1 cup of peanut butter (crunchy or smooth, the choice is yours!)
1 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp baking soda
Half a cup of chocolate chips
1. Mix everything together and then divide into 12 balls on a greased or lined baking tray.
2. Bake at 180C/350F/gas 4 for 8-10 minutes – enjoy!
The recipe uses American cup measures, but as a rule of thumb, a cup of peanut butter is about 250g, a cup of sugar is about 200g and half a cup of chocolate chips is around 90g, if you prefer to use scales.
The TikTok peanut butter cookies recipe has already surpassed its own app and is now also being shared all over social networks too – with rave reviews from every taste tester.

Considering the fact that you’re likely to already have most of the ingredients in the cupboards, the bake might just be the weekend project you’ve been searching for.
You could also customise the recipe by swapping the milk chocolate chips for white or dark, subbing in dried fruit like raisins, or trying a different nut butter – whatever method you choose, delicious cookie-based joy awaits…
