Marc Jacobs has launched a new, more affordable clothing line

As much as we love designer garms, they’re often more of an aspiration than a feasible option when shopping due to their hefty price tags. But what if we told you one of the biggest, most renowned fashion labels was launching a more affordable line for those who can’t spent a month’s rent on an item of clothing? Well, that’s exactly what’s happening.

The legendary Marc Jacobs has announced the launch of his brand new line, The Marc Jacobs, which, while not a ‘cheap’ option by any stretch of the imagination, does have a lower price point than many of his other offerings. The new brand comes four years after the closure of Marc by Marc Jacobs and eagle-eyed fans will notice that it is named after the designer’s Instagram account, @themarcjacobs.

The new line is all about promoting individual style and includes everything from bags, shoes, accessories and jewellery as well as colourful clothes. In fact, the first glimpse of the summer collection looks incredible.

WWD reported that Jacobs actually looked to his own archives for inspiration and was influenced by his iconic grunge spring/summer 1993 Perry Ellis collection, which fashion enthusiasts will remember got the designer fired.

Introducing the brand in the official press release, Jacobs said: ‘We wanted to do something that is unlike the collections we are already doing, in that is is more item-y.’

He continued: ‘These items are things that you could put together in your own way; it’s more about personal styling than about having a full runway look.’

The Marc Jacobs collection also features a variety of collaboration with some of Jacobs’ friends such as screen-writer Sofia Coppola, New York Magazine and Peanuts, as well as Stephen Jones who he teamed up with to create a hats and accessory capsule.

The entire collection is now available to shop on the official Marc Jacobs website, with prices starting from as little as £40 (for a pair of socks) and upwards.
