Sex And The City’s Chris Noth spills on ‘sad and uncomfortable’ SJP and Kim Cattrall feud

It’s not long to go now until the highly anticipated Sex And The City reboot, And Just Like That hits our TV screens this month. It’s not like we’ve been counting down the days since the beginning of the year (we have), but we’re so ready to see our favourite characters back in action.

As many of us know, Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha Jones in the original series, will not be returning for the reboot. She previously told the Mail Online that she would ‘never’ return to the franchise for another series or third film, and it’s speculated that this is because of a fall out with on-screen best friend Sarah Jessica Parker.

Chris Noth, who stars as the one and only Mr Big in Sex And The City, recently opened up about the fall out between SJP and and Kim Cattrall in an interview with The GuardianThe actor declared that he didn’t understand the reasons behind Kim’s dislike of Sarah Jessica Parker.

He said: ‘I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Kim’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close.’

A feud between Kim Cattrall and SJP was first rumoured back in 2004, but it escalated in 2018, when Kim’s brother died and Sarah posted condolences on her Instagram. Kim accused SJP of being ‘cruel’ and a ‘hypocrite’ at the time.

Chris Noth continued: ‘I liked her [Kim], I thought she was marvellous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable.’

The actor was clearly protective of his on-screen wife and considers her a good friend.

‘I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty,’ Chris added. ‘I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That’s all I’ll say about that.’

Speaking of being protective, the 67-year-old also had something to say about the criticism that SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis were receiving for how they had aged. ‘People are like: “Oh the girls don’t look the same.” Yeah, because it’s 25 years later! We’re normal people, we get older, we adjust – why, don’t you?’ he said, and we couldn’t agree more.
