This anti-ageing cream takes just two weeks to turn back time

Amanda Clayson, 54, works in a school. She is married, lives in Kent and has two grown up children.

The most relaxing – but still productive hour of my day – is between nine and ten pm. I put on my pyjamas, take off my make-up and massage my Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Cream into my skin. Sometimes I watch telly, and sometimes I read in bed, with my 11 year old working cocker spaniel Amber, lying lovingly next to me.

Skin changes as you get older, and over the last few years I’ve definitely noticed a bit of greasiness around my t-zone as well as the odd dry patch. It seems very unfair that at the same time as these adolescent concerns I’m noticing wrinkles starting to form and deepen around my eyes and on my forehead. To be honest, I’m not that happy about it! Some days I wake up and think that bits of my face need ironing.

The other challenges to my complexion are the stress of my job – which I absolutely love, but which is very busy, and the fact that I’m battered by a sea breeze on a daily basis. We are fortunate to live a short walk from the coastline, and I’m only a ten minute walk from work. I think that the sea air – whether it’s a sunny or blustery day – can take its toll on skin. Sometimes I get home looking very weather beaten.

What I most needed was a cream which could reduce the wrinkles. Anything else would be a bonus. I didn’t have high expectations – two weeks doesn’t seem long enough to make a difference – but nonetheless, I very happily committed to a fortnight of testing Shiseido products.

The Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Cream certainly has a reassuring name. It uses what they call ReNeura Technology™. This means that the simple act of applying it will wake up my complexion, and the ingredients work to help my skin heal itself. Most importantly, those pesky wrinkles would hopefully be plumped up.

Amanda’s skin two weeks ago

I’ve never liked heavy creams as I find them uncomfortable and greasy feeling, as well as very hard over which to apply make-up. I think it’s partly for this reason that I’m a little bit lazy when it comes to any sort of beauty routine. I cleanse in the morning and evening, but that’s about it.

Thankfully, the texture is light and creamy. I love the expensive scent. Apparently this is sweet orange, and it means that application is a pleasurable and luxurious experience. To my relief, the cream glides over skin and instantly sinks in, without the greasy residue I had feared. When I peer in the mirror, I think that my skin immediately looks a little fuller and plumped up and the slight roughness around my mouth is lessened.

The velvety texture of the cream also appears to sooth and smooth any daily ravages from the sea wind as well.

Amanda after two weeks of using the product

After two weeks, I am pretty sure that the wrinkles on my forehead are less deep. I love the swift routine of the cream; I can just smooth it on without any fuss and will never be too tired to use it. Best of all, my skin overall is fresher and more youthful looking.

Ian and I have six dogs in total, but only Amber is allowed on the bed. I can confirm that she’s a fan as well – she always tries to lick my face once the cream is applied. Needless to say, I don’t let her!
