Cheese Easter eggs are coming to a supermarket near you

Got more of a savoury tooth than a sweet one? Or perhaps you love both cheese and chocolate equally? Either way, your Easter just got a whole lot better, as Sainsbury’s has announced the arrival of the world’s first spreadable cheese Easter egg.

The ‘Cheester’ egg, as it’s been nicknamed, is made from cheddar cheese and has a smooth texture that’s perfect for spreading over crackers, topping with chutney or even stirring into pasta. In fact, the cheesy possibilities are endless…

The savoury Easter egg, which is made by the geniuses at Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses, also includes a sachet of chutney and a packet of oatcakes, so that you can feast on it as soon as you open the box. However, stock up on some extras and you’ve got yourself a pretty showstopping centrepiece for the post-Easter Sunday lunch cheeseboard.

One more thing: before you go rushing down to your local Sainsbury’s to stock up, you should know that the egg isn’t actually available until 10th April – and when it does become available, both online and in stores, we predict a sellout.
