If you thought Airbnb’s Italian sabbatical sounded like the job of dreams, we’ve got some news for you. Cruise company Royal Caribbean is offering one lucky, lucky person a chance to earn a six-figure salary to travel the world. And yes, it is exactly as good as it sounds.
The popular travel business is has launched a ‘Shore Explorer Apprentice-Ship‘ and are currently looking for a candidate to travel the world for three weeks during the summer to seek our new shore experiences, while being paid a salary equivalent of £100,000.
With destinations including Japan, Alaska, Europe, the Middle East, as well as a private island in the Caribbean, the chosen candidate will get to experience the ultimate travel bucket list moments – from visiting a glacier in Alaska and exploring Osaka in Japan, to white water rafting in the Norwegian Fjords and riding the world’s longest urban zip wire in Dubai.
We know, it sounds too good to be true. But it isn’t. The main part of the job is that the successful candidate will be responsible for discovering new land-based experiences that will ultimately influence the brand’s shore excursion programme for 2019 and beyond. Therefore, their only daily task will be to capture their experiences on Instagram, Insta-Stories and IGTV. And let’s face it, that’s something most of us do while on holiday anyway.
So, how exactly can one get involved? Anyone who is interested can now apply to become Royal Caribbean’s new apprentice via Instagram as long as you’re 21 years or over, hold a valid passport and be able to travel this year. If you fit the criteria then all you have to do is share your best travel story, image or video in a main feed post, Instagram stories or IGTV and tag @RoyalCaribbeanUK while also using the #ShoreExplorer.
The successful candidate will then be selected by an independent panel of judges made up of Ben Bouldin, Managing Director Royal Caribbean International UK, travel writer Nadia El Ferdaoussi, Russ Francis and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant and member of boy band The Vamps, James McVey.
The initiative comes after recent research revealed that 63 per cent of millennials (18-37 year olds) are more satisfied with seeking out new experiences than having material assets. So what are you waiting for? Apply while applications are open between 4 February and 1 March 2019. May the best travel story win!
