We’re calling it – animal print is the style of summer 2018. Marks and Spencer have already caused a frenzy with their leopard print midi, which sold out in 10 minutes flat, and now there’s a Next animal print dress with waiting lists of up to six weeks.
The store’s £38 black and white animal print frill maxi dress has proved exceptionally popular among shoppers – so much so that when you go to select most sizes, you find that you’ll have to wait 5-6 weeks for your order to arrive. Here’s hoping it’s still summer dress weather in September…

For #whatweworeonwednesday and the always stylish and gorgeous ladies; Kathy @whatkathydidnext and Abi @stealmystyle40 , I present to you my favourite new find from @nextofficial . . I’m just wild about this animal print, wrap, maxi dress from Next.🐾 I ordered it as soon as I saw it in the latest @nextofficial catalogue (pg 47😉). It is in the lightest fabric, just perfect for hot, summer days and I love the contrasting animal prints. . I reckon it will be very popular so if you are interested, the catalogue number is 535-288 at £38 (100% viscose). I ordered a 10 but will try an 8 too as it is quite roomy. . Have a fabulous day all you wonderful people, and don’t forget #itscominghome ⚽️🇬🇧👍 . . #outfitdetails #mystyle #sharewithnext
It’s no surprise that the affordable frock has caused shoppers to move quickly – whether it’s the flattering shape, fun frill detail, maxi length or wearable print, we can’t imagine anyone that the look wouldn’t suit.
The silver lining is that while you’re waiting for your order to arrive, you can get some serious style inspo from those who’ve already managed to snap it up – and you won’t have to scroll far through your Instagram feed to find it…

It’s that £38 @nextofficial dress that ticks all the boxes. Look in the swimwear section 🤣 Today I am busy packing for our family trip to Portugal tomorrow, so exciting, kids all under strict instructions to wear all the crap stuff in their wardrobes as most of their clothes are packed 🤣 apologies in advance for the holiday spam. Happy Saturday you lovely people. #styleinspo #styleblogger #fashionblogger #maxidress #next #nextuk #londonblogger #highstreet #dailystyle #dailyoutfits #mumblogger #mumstyle #trend #london #igers_uk #igerslondon #discoverunder10k #holidayoutfit #packing #summer #summerwardrobe #family
However, the piece could easily be dressed up for an evening event – with some statement earrings and smart shoes, we’d wear ours to a summer wedding too.
Want to get your hands on it? It’s on the Next website in sizes 6-22 (as long as you don’t mind the aforementioned six week queue, that is). Of course, you could also try your local store to see if there’s any stock still lurking on the summer season shelves.
And if you just can’t wait? There’s some animal print styles from the incoming AW/18 lines to keep your eye out for as well – we’ll be picking up this £36 animal print wrap dress, stat!
