No matter what event she’s attending, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is usually spotted wearing a selection of seriously chic jewellery.
From the £40 Catbird ring that sparked so many copycat sales that Net-A-Porter sold out to the initial necklaces that paid tribute to her son and her husband, she’s a trendsetter when it comes to all things gold and gorgeous. But one stack that royal fans will never quite be able to replicate is the unique trio of rings on the third finger of her left hand.
The first, of course, is her engagement ring from Prince Harry, a stunning yellow gold band set with three diamonds that each have their own special meaning. The central diamond is from Botswana, where the couple shared a holiday together while they were dating, and the two smaller gems either side are from his late mother Princess Diana’s collection.
When the couple tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle last May, Meghan added a Welsh gold wedding ring to her finger. But eagle-eyed watchers have since spotted her wearing another ring below this, for which the family have yet to reveal the personal story.
It was first noted that Meghan was wearing a third ring on her ring finger at this year’s Trooping the Colour celebrations, when the cameras at the occasion zoomed in on the pave-set band. It is reportedly embedded with three coloured stones: a flawless green emerald for Archie, a blue sapphire for Harry, and an olive-green peridot stone for Meghan herself.
Sources have since told Harper’s Bazaar that the extra piece of jewellery, designed by New York-based designer Lorraine Schwartz, was a gift to Meghan from Prince Harry to mark their first wedding anniversary, adding that the duchess was ‘touched’ by the thoughtful gesture.
It’s not known whether or not the pair view the piece as an official eternity ring, but if that is the case, it’s possible that Harry was inspired by his brother Prince William.
Kate wears an 18 carat white gold Eclipse diamond eternity ring by Annoushka, which is thought to have been given to her by her husband after the birth of their first child, Prince George. Aww!
