5 amazing LFW highlights you might have missed

With Lulu Guinness’ first LFW presentation, Teatum Jones’ inspiring runway models and Christopher Bailey’s triumphant finale – 2018’s London Fashion Week was one of the brilliant yet.

Here’s five of the YOU fashion team’s highlights of the weekend…

1. The Queen’s surprise attendance at Richard Quinn’s show

The biggest surprise of London Fashion Week was the Queen’s appearance at Richard Quinn’s Fashion Show. Sat between Anna Wintour – known to many as the Queen of Fashion – and the British Fashion Council’s Caroline Rush, her Majesty watched as floral printed helmets, oversized shinny capes and a patchwork of silk scarves walked down the runway. At the end of show, The Queen presented Quinn with the first ever Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.

2. Christopher Bailey’s final Burberry collection

The Burberry runway was lit up by a rainbow light show for Christopher Bailey’s last collection. Campaign stars from the past and present modelled the new SS18 collection which featured iconic clothing like the trench coat and the poncho. The most talked about piece was the Rainbow check, worn by Cara Delevingne and Edie Campbell, which demonstrated Bailey’s tireless commitment to the LGBTQ+ communities. ‘My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youths around the world,’ the CCO explained.

3. Goldfrapp’s mirrored performance at Mulberry

The best musical moment goes to Mulberry and their SS18 show. As guests watched in a vintage music box-inspired show space, Alison Goldfrapp gave an exclusive live performance while standing on a revolving mirror. Inspired by previous pastimes, this collection was given a modern twist by combining feminine and traditional silhouettes with fresh new volumes and decorations.

4. Celebrating diversity on Teatum Jones’ runway

‘This is fashion made by human stories,’ was Teatum Jones’ mission statement and their AW18 collection truly encompassed it. Inspired by the 25 unique models and their experiences in life, the collection was presented in three sections based the emotions they have felt during those times – intense joy, intense sadness and hope. The intimate and raw conversations had before the creating the collection were played back throughout the show highlighting further the amazing and strong women who were walking the runway.

5. Lulu Guinness’ first presentation at LFW

Lulu Guinness held her first LFW presentation in the brand’s 28-year history, showcasing her witty and energetic AW18 collection. With the words ‘Love One Another’ displayed all over the walls, the collection consisted of lip clasp crushed velvet clutches, taupe silk jumpsuits and lipstick logo totes. Collaborating with GHD, the models had tight perms and rosy pink cheeks. The two-day presentation attracted numerous celebrities including Pixie Lott, Lady Mary Charteris, Jasmine LeBon and the designer herself.

And the YOU team’s personal highlight – our Tesla car!

What would we have done without our Tesla car during Fashion Week? We were a very lucky Fashion Team being shuttled from show to show in our 6 seater Model X. The environmentally friendly car, producing zero emission, made sure every journey was stylishly comfortable with movable chairs, phone chargers (an absolute must-have!) and around-the-clock access to Spotify – well, what’s Fashion Week without a 90s playlist?! And all eyes were definitely on us wherever we arrived thanks to the falcon wing doors.
