January sales are in full effect so if you’re planning on treating yourself to a luxury holiday for less this upcoming season, then now would be a great time to book. But the current discounts aren’t the only way to save money on your travels.
While visiting new destinations is one of the most exciting things in the world, it’s also a time where you’re more likely to be taken advantage of. Whether it’s being duped into paying double for your taxi or paying the steepest price for attraction tickets, we’ve all been there when it comes to being the gullible tourist.
So what if we told you that there was a clever hack that could help you get the best rate for your taxi no matter where you travel to?
Well, travel expert Lexi Alford, who currently holds the world record for being the youngest person to travel to every country, has revealed that one simple e-mail could help tourists save hundreds of pounds on their next trip.
Explaining her valuable hack, the 21-year-old social media influencer and travel Youtuber told Bloomberg: ‘Taxi drivers can be merciless as far as screwing you over, so you need to be very sure on exactly how much it’s going to cost and how long it’s going to take to go from A to B.’
She continued: ‘Email your hotel before you arrive and ask what the average price is for a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Sending this simple email has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years, because I’ve avoided being taken advantage of by taxi drivers with inflated prices or fixed meters.’

ITS OFFICIAL!!🥳 After years of travel, months of planning & mountains of paperwork to prove it- I'm now the Guinness World Record Holder for the Youngest Person to Travel to Every Country!🤩🌍⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's been a crazy week celebrating here in NYC & having the Today Show surprise me with this certificate yesterday was literally a dream come true. I've been spending a lot of time reflecting on what I've taken away from traveling to 196 countries & honestly I feel like I've only just scratched the surface of how much there is to explore! Traveling to all these places around the world taught me that countries aren't as black and white as lines on the map. There's actually this beautiful, interconnected tapestry of cultures, beliefs and landscapes that blend together to create this strange & wonderful world we live in.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's been such an honor & a privilege to experience so much and to share this journey with all of you. I definitely couldn't have done it without the many special people I encountered along the way. I'm feeling grateful for all the lessons learned & I'm SO EXCITED FOR WHAT'S NEXT🥂 go to the link in my bio to subscribe to my brand new YOUTUBE CHANNEL!
As Lexi mentions, by checking with your hotel, or trusted local, you can ensure that you know exactly what the usual price points are to make sure you don’t get ripped off. It’s simple, but effective!
