Kate Winslet’s cottage from ‘The Holiday’ is up for sale, come on a tour…

Is it not officially Christmas in your house until you’ve watched The Holiday? The much-loved classic Christmas film, featuring Kate Winslet and Jude Law, is a staple of the festive season.

As fans of the 2006 festive film will know, The Holiday follows Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) spontaneous home swap. With Amanda leaving her sunny and spacious Los Angeles home to spend the Christmas holidays at Iris’ cosy and quintessentially English cottage.

Both, rather inevitably, fall in love with the loveable local man. Iris’ brother Graham (Jude Law) makes an memorable impression on Amanda, mistakenly believing his sister is home he arrives at the cottage doorway in the middle of the night providing her with a reason to stay in the snowy village.

The picturesque country home which inspired the country cottage is now up for sale, giving the lucky buyer the opportunity to own the home where Cameron Diaz effectively ‘fell in love’ with Jude Law – just imagine the photo Christmas card potential!

Set in the London commuter village of Holmbury S Mary in Shere, Honeysuckle cottage provided the production crew of The Holiday with so much inspiration that the crew custom designed a set for Iris’ iconic Rosehill Cottage based upon the design and period features within the three-bedroom property.

On the market with Hamptons International for £650,000 the listing showcases beautiful imagery of the cottages original and character features which feel instantly recognisable as Iris’ despite no filming taking place inside the property. Everything feels familiar, from the cosy inglenook fireplace to glossy expose timbers and oak joinery and exposed brickwork.

The classic neutral palette of the lounge and sleek Jotul log burner take us straight to the scene where Cameron Diaz dances playfully around to The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside.’ We can even imagine Iris pouring the kettle in the bespoke, hand-painted kitchen with Aga.

With beautiful manicured laws and sprawling views across the Surrey countryside there’s even a local pub – like the one in The Holiday – just a stroll away making it the perfect winter escape.
