Kate Middleton has one of the most sought-after wardrobes on the planet – so much so that there’s a squad of RepliKates out there who love to copy her every outfit. But according to a new report, she’s not the only member of the royal family who has an input on her fashion choices.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, designer Donna Ida said that Kate has been seeking style inspiration from Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, as the pair apparently have similar tastes.
‘“My friend, a stylist, is best friends with Sophie Wessex, and Sophie buys from us,’ Australian-born Donna explained to the paper.
‘[Sophie] got our black Sadie jumpsuit for herself and then asked for one for Kate. She said: “Kate wants one, can I get one as well?”‘
The £295 casual denim boilersuit might seem a surprising choice for a Duchess who’s rarely seen in anything other than a mid-length skirt or tailored trousers, but Kate has gone through something of a style evolution in recent months.
While she’s unlikely to choose the piece for official occasions, it’s possible that we might see her wearing it for more relaxed occasions like taking her three children to polo matches, or perhaps on autumn walks around Kensington Gardens, near their home.
54-year-old Sophie, however, has been spotted in a jumpsuit in public in the past – albeit a more formal Emilia Wickstead number, which she chose to wear to Ascot earlier this year.
If you want to get your hands on the Donna Ida jumpsuit, the good news is that the coveted Sadie is still available – but the bad news is that it’s no longer available in black.
The Fawcett Blue Sadie is in stock on the Donna Ida website – it’s advised that you wear yours true to size for a slim fit, or size up if you are long in the body or prefer a more relaxed fit.
