It’s almost Valentine’s Day and love is officially in the air; you’ll find it everywhere from the supermarkets to Kate Middleton’s wardrobe.
Earlier this week, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out on an official engagement in Wales wearing a cute heart print scarf with a lovely back story, from mid-priced brand Beulah, and fans were well and truly smitten.
If you were planning on buying an exact copy of Kate’s scarf, that’s a great idea – not only is the design stunning, the piece was produced in Nepal, providing women there with sustainable employment opportunities, and a percentage of profit from each item sold goes towards ending modern day slavery.
However, there’s a slight spanner in the works of your considered purchase, as the Kate effect has well and truly hit and the £120 accessory is now (totally unsurprisingly) sold out.
Don’t panic; your clever idea for a Valentine’s Day gift with a difference is not entirely lost, as the eagle-eyed royal watchers at HELLO! magazine have saved the day. They’ve spotted a high-street alternative for the piece that’s not only cheaper to begin with, but has now gone down into the sale.
Phase Eight’s Rosabelle scarf is crafted from the same red and pink colour palette as Kate’s, with a similar heart print all along the length of the fabric. It was previously £39, but there’s a discount running currently that brings it down to under £20 – not bad when you’re taking your style inspiration from a future queen.
If you really want to get the Kate look, you can also try to track down her Hobbs coat, another sale find with a chic navy blue wool blend and smart gold buttons.
It’s all but gone from the Hobbs website, but we’re crossing our fingers that we may still be able to stumble upon one in store…
