Have you been loving John Torode and Lisa Faulkner’s ITV show, John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen? Then we’ve got good news: even thought the first series is still airing, they’ve just confirmed that there’s a second one in the works!
The programme sees the duo ‘host from a cosy modern kitchen every Sunday morning as they cook deliciously simple dishes,’ ITV explained when it was first commissioned, and it’s clearly proved popular, as it will return to our screens for series two as soon as 9 June.
In a statement, Lisa said: ‘It’s a dream come true for John and I to present our very own cooking series together, especially as we now get to invite some of our friends and favourite food personalities into our kitchen too’.
‘Testament to the pair’s natural chemistry, we are delighted to see a re-commission for another series of John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen,‘ Emma Gormley, Managing Director of ITV Daytime, added of the second series.
John first teased the arrival of the show back in March on his Instagram account, where he shared a picture of himself with Lisa, alongside the caption: ‘Some very exciting news coming soon #john&lisa’ – much to the excitement of the couple’s fans.
Speaking about the project, he said: ‘I am really thrilled and excited to be working with Lisa on our new show for ITV, our Weekend Kitchen will certainly be a great reflection of us working together on food and our style and chatting about things we love to do, made for Sunday morning viewing…’
Lisa echoed: ‘It’s a lovely series to be asked to present and even better that we get to share some of our favourite recipes and ideas with the viewers.’
The foodie pair first met back in 2011 when Lisa won Celebrity MasterChef, but only started dating later. They had been together for three years when John proposed to Lisa at Christmas in 2018.
Along with shooting John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen and planning a wedding, things must be busy in their household!
