Jo Malone perfumes are staples of any well-rounded fragrance collection, but their latest offering for spring may be their best to date.
Centred on ‘sunlight skipping across golden fields’ of cereals and grains, and blooms including poppies and primroses, the hearty scents of the new Jo Malone English Fields range are inspired by the rolling meadows of the English countryside – and just one spritz will instantly invoke memories of gloriously long, lazy summer days.
There are five colognes to select from; Poppy & Barley carries hints of violets and blackcurrant, softened with musk, whilst Primrose & Rye is a sweeter, sunnier scent with vanilla and rye.
Prefer a crisp, fruitier perfume? Opt for Green Wheat & Meadowsweet, which is cut with grapefruit for zest and freshness. Also included are Oat & Cornflower, which gives a burst of cornflower and a subtle note of hazelnut, and Honey & Crocus, mingled with lavender and almond milk – making it almost good enough to eat.
Mathilde Bijaoui, Master Perfumer for the brand, said of the collection: ‘As a perfumer, I love to be surprised – and English Fields is unexpected territory! To have cereals and grains as the main focus is a first for me. It’s somewhere in perfumery I have never been before.’
The design of the bottles is also a departure from the familiar glass of many Jo Malone fragrances, with soft pastels sitting alongside matte bases in the limited edition ceramic design.
Whether you pack yours into your suitcase on a holiday where you know you’ll want a sniff of home, or incorporate it into your daily routine all season long, we predict that English Fields will quickly earn a spot on your favourite fragrance list. The only challenge now is snapping them up before they sell out!
Jo Malone English Fields fragrances are available nationwide from today, priced £47 for 30ml.
