The nation’s favourite TV show is almost back on our screens – yes, the new season of The Great British Bake Off is just one week away.
It's time to cheer for our new bakers are here! And as it's our tenth year, a baker's dozen shall appear!

Earlier this month, it was announced that the hit Channel 4 show will return on Tuesday 27 August at 8pm and just like the rest of the country, we just can’t wait. The exciting news was revealed alongside an amazing picture of the cast – judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, and hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, at a very extravagant tea party.
Now the full line-up of contestants has finally been revealed, and as you scroll through them, you many notice that many of them are much younger than usual. In fact, the average age of the 2019 contestants is 31 (four years younger than the previous year), with half of the new bakers in their 20s.
But of course, age is nothing but a number when it comes to baking as the talent speaks for itself.

‘Baking has become such a cool thing to do, and if you’re a girl, a young lad, if you can bake, you’ll get friends – always,’ said lead judge Paul Hollywood. He has a point.
Similarly, his fellow judge Prue Leith added: ‘When they [show bosses] are choosing the bakers, the main thing they want to know is that they’re getting the 12 best bakers in the country.’
‘They’re not set up to find somebody who’s the right ethnic mix, or the right height, or the right age or anything. It’s only when they really know that everybody who’s left in the competition is a fantastic baker that Channel 4 make sure they’ve got the right balance.’
So without further ado, let’s meet this year’s Great British Bake Off contestants – and by the way, there are 13 this time as opposed to the usual 12, so the competition is set to be even more fierce…
