Limited edition gin and tonic After Eights are launching this September

It’s no secret that gin has long reigned supreme as the nation’s favourite spirit. Our love affair with G&Ts has spawned a tasty yet pretty bizarre array of foodie concoctions, from Asda’s pink gin cheesecake to Aldi’s star sign gins earlier this summer. 

Now the guys at Nestle have jumped on the gin bandwagon (gin-wagon?) to bring us a new flavour in their much-loved after dinner sweet treat, Gin & Tonic & Mint After Eights. 

Each thin chocolate snack will feature a gin and tonic-flavoured mint fondant, made with 100 per cent natural peppermint oil, covered in rich dark chocolate from responsibly sourced cocoa. 

Revealing the news on the official After Eight Instagram, the confectionary brand wrote:  

‘Are you ready for something Gin-credible?! The same #AFTEREIGHT mint thin you know and love but this time with a flavour of your favourite Gin & Tonic tipple! Coming soon to a store near you!’

Debbie Bowen, senior brand manager for After Eight, said in a press release: ‘Gin has rapidly become the nation’s spirit of choice, so what could be better than combining the flavours of our favourite tipple with the delicious mint fondant and dark chocolate that has made After Eight so popular for almost sixty years?’

After Eight Gin & Tonic & Mint is a delightfully fresh, zesty twist on a classic, and we believe it will prove to be a very popular addition to the range. Gin O’Clock has officially arrived!’ 

The foodie news seems to have received a positive reaction, with Instagram users commenting on the @nestleuki page: ‘These look amazing, can’t wait to try them!’ and ‘Need to get our hands on some ASAP’. 

The limited edition flavour will be available in all major supermarkets, convenience stores and online on Ocado and Amazon from Monday 7th September, and will be on sale until Christmas.
