Cadbury is easily at the forefront of choccie innovations – since its inception nearly 200 years ago in Birmingham, the brand has been coming up with new chocolatey treats for us to indulge in and enjoy.
In 2019, the brand created quite the hysteria with the first flavour evolution of the classic Cadbury Twirl to hit the UK: the Orange Twirl.
Easily one of Cadbury’s most beloved chocolate bars since it was first brought to the shelves in the 1970s, Twirls are sticks of flaky Cadbury chocolate smothered in a hard outer shell of, yes, more delicious milk chocolate. What’s not to love?
We didn’t think they could improve on the recipe but, inject some zesty orange flavouring into the mix and we were proved so wrong – in the best way. If the ‘frenzy’ that was caused by their arrival in the YOU offices was anything to go by and how quickly the bars disappeared off the shop shelves, the Twirl Orange was welcomed with very open arms by the nation.
Thanks to its huge popularity, Cadbury brought the zesty flaky bars back for a second, but still limited, time last year, causing a frenzy amongst chocaholics to rush to the stores to get a bar before they were all gone.
Knowing how sought after the Orange Twirl was, Cadbury even went as far as to hold the world’s first ever chocolate pre-sale last year, with the first 5,000 people to register being sent one free bar in the post, along with some additional Orange Twirl collectible items.
But now, Cadbury has finally done us all a favour and brought back the Orange Twirl for good. Taking to Twitter yesterday, the chocolate brand announced the good news, much to the delight of fans everywhere: ‘when you see them can you buy me like 500. Please and thank you’ asked one Twitter user of their friend.
‘Best news ever means I don’t need to bulk buy in fear of them not coming back lol #thankyou’ wrote another grateful chocolate fan.

And if you can’t get to a supermarket or newsagent right now, you needn’t miss out. To celebrate the Orange Twirl becoming a permanent fixture on the shelves, Cadbury is launching a free doorstep delivery service. Simply head to Cadbury’s Twitter page to see when the service is coming to your area and tweet them to book your same day delivery slot.
Launching in London on Tuesday 23 February, followed by Birmingham, Liverpool and Cardiff after that, we know this is going to be great news for those who are unable to get to the shops right now.
So if you struggled to hunt down a Twirl Orange last year, don’t worry – this time, they’re not going anywhere. Find the Cadbury Orange Twirl in all good supermarkets and corner shops across the UK.
