Headbands have been the accessory of the summer and much to our delight, it looks like we’re carrying them into the autumn winter season too.
Loved by influencers, celebrities and even royals, the staple fashion piece recently became even more of a talking point when Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, wore a chic navy headband to the Queen’s speech at the opening of Parliament on Monday.
The 31-year-old PR, who sat in the audience with Boris’ dad and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star, Stanley, had all eyes on her thanks to her dazzling hair accessory which generated headlines about the trend for so-called ‘powerbands’ in the press.
Nailing the prim and proper trend, Carrie wore the navy headpiece with a matching wool coat over a tartan dress for the ultimate elegant outfit. But she isn’t the only one to sport the look.
In fact, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton is the reigning queen of the headband. This year, the mother-of-three debuted her new wardrobe which, as fans would agree, is fun, fashionable and a breath of fresh air – and headbands have quickly become one of her signature staples.
From her £958 Jane Taylor design worn at Prince Louis’ christening and the retro crepe band she sported for Sandringham’s Epiphany Service in January, to the beautiful silk pink Stella McCartney piece she wore to her nephew, baby Archie’s christening, it is safe to say that Kate got there first.
