If we had to choose a style icon’s wardrobe to borrow from, Alexa Chung’s would be pretty high on our list. Throughout her career as a model, presenter, author and designer, she’s repeatedly set the agenda for upcoming trends and must-buy pieces – and her latest Paris Fashion Week outfit is no exception.
The centrepiece of her look was a structured corduroy blazer, with a double breasted fastening and lapel detail, teamed with kickflare jeans, white sneakers, a Chylak bag and printed tee. And while the attire may have made Alexa look a million dollars, that all-important jacket is actually from high street hero Mango, and can be yours for less than £100.
The new-in blazer is available in Alexa’s signature brown, or a rich, rosy pink, both of which tap into A/W 18’s ongoing cord invasion (yes, for those who remember it the first time around, it’s back and bigger than ever).
For the truly committed, there’s also a pair of coordinating suit trousers, which will set you back £59.99 – but you could also make like Alexa and layer it up over denim for a mix of textures and tones.
Speaking to ELLE earlier this year, after singlehandedly sparking a surge in sales of Chloé’s much-revered horse suit, Alexa said that she never minds if people ‘copy’ her style.
‘I’m quite optimistic when it comes to spotting things I like,’ she explained to the title. ‘I don’t dwell on something that’s the same or whatever. I love that suit, you love that suit, we wear it totally differently because we’re vastly different people, and that’s what’s cool about it.
‘But when I look at other people’s outfits, I’m interested in something I haven’t thought of before. Like for instance, a girl walked in earlier from Japan. She had black tights on, brown socks, and brown loafers. It looked so sick. I was like, “How did I not think of this before?!”’
