Aldi has launched new versions of its popular velvet chairs

Hold the phone and stop the press, all our homeware dreams have been answered by the interiors geniuses at Aldi. The budget supermarket’s velvet cocktail chair is very similar to one sold by Oliver Bonas – minus the £495 price tag – and now it’s available in more colours.

In soft velvet upholstering, the chair is available in pink, navy blue and grey.

Most recently, a gorgeous cream version has also been added to the mix, providing the ultimate sophisticated finish to any grown-up room (keep away from children and animals!). It’s slightly different to the pink version – without a scalloped back – but still has that sumptuous art deco feel we love.

A statement or accent chair is an ideal way to inject some glamour and style to a room and will instantly update any existing decor.

‘Add style and comfort to your home with this shell accent chair’ reads the online description. ‘Upholstered with velvet fabric, you’ll feel great as you ease back. Featuring a scalloped design and golden legs for a luxurious finish.’

Blush cocktail chair, £495, Oliver Bonas

The cute cocktail chair has been having a moment for some time now, with many high-end homeware designers and brands, from Oliver Bonas to Wayfair and Le Maison Chic churning out their own versions, making Aldi’s version a real steal in terms of price.

Aldi has also come up with another velvet chair to tickle your fancy, this time in a more traditional armchair style. At £169.99 it’s not cheap, but still a bargain compared to many velvet armchairs on the market.

Part of the latest drop of homewares in the supermarket’s infamous Specialbuys range (where the saying ‘once it’s gone, it’s gone’ really comes into its own), the chair is exclusively available online. However, these chairs always cause quite a stir when they’re restocked and inevitably sell out rather quickly. But don’t worry, if you do miss out this time, just keep your eyes peeled for the next restock.
