Aldi’s £6.99 Birkenstock dupes are back in stock

The trend for chunky, ‘dad’ sandals is one of the biggest shoe stories of summer 2021 – and at the forefront of that trend, you’ll find Birkenstocks.

The iconic sandals, which initially became popular in the 1960s as a comfortable, supportive solution for athletes, are still found on the feet of the biggest fashion icons and influencers today.

And if you’ve not yet got a pair in your wardrobe, you might be pleased to hear that you can now get the look for a lot less, courtesy of discount supermarket Aldi.

In the store’s latest batch of Specialbuys, you’ll find real leather sandals that looks strikingly similar to the classic Birkenstock design, with a comfy footbed and straps with coordinating buckles.

There’s two and three strap options, as well as a flip flop style, with colourways including dark navy and our personal favourites, a very Instagram-friendly metallic silver. ‘Chic style footwear is great for all casual wear during these warmer months, from local trips to days spent at the beach,’ the brand says.

While the Aldi Birkenstocks are not completely identical copies, comparable styles from Birkenstock range from about £50 to £75 in price, while Aldi’s budget dupes will set you back a much more purse-friendly £6.99 – quite the bargain if you’re on a budget.

Aldi is already known and loved for its incredible beauty dupes, which span everything from bargain skincare to affordable versions of luxury mascaras, concealers and even candles.

The supermarket first introduced its Aldi Birkenstocks in 2019 and nice then, we’ve seen the brand branch out in fashion even more with it’s latest Aldimania line of clothing.

We’re praying for everything from low-priced Louboutins to Aldi versions of designer dresses hanging from the rails next. But for now, we’d say that the Birkenstock dupes are a rather excellent place to start…
