Yes, the rumours are true: ZARA makeup has landed – and it’s great and affordable with prices from £5.99 to £17.99. Housed in elegant white packaging featuring slanted edges (to mirror the angles of the letter Z) that is almost entirely refillable (exceptions are nail varnish and lip oil and gloss though both are in glass packaging) and recyclable. Formulas are also vegan and free from silicones and mineral oils.
ZARA joined forces with leading makeup artist Diane Kendall and together, over lockdowns, they’ve worked for the last 18 months to create this first drop (foundation, concealer mascara, and brow products are all still in development).
Colour combinations of eyeshadows have all been personally overseen by Diane and come about as she created the campaign images and which shades worked best together but there’s something here for everyone from bright oranges and blues to pale pinks and coppers. ‘They’re really fun and playful,’ says Diane.
Another of Diane’s favourite products from the range is Stiletto, a demi-matte moisturising lipstick in a good selection of colours from pale ‘nude’ pinks to reds (£9.99, refill £5.00).
‘It’s so easy to apply and the sheen and the quality and the colour is really beautiful,’ says Diane. But she’s also particularly proud of the Cheek Colour in 3 Refillable Cheek Palette which features a bronzer (with a delicate dash of shimmer), blush, and contour and is available in three shade ranges. ‘They apply so easily and give a gorgeous sculpting effect and beautiful dimension to the face.’
But really everything in this range is great quality and great value and gets full marks from me. If you’re unsure of the shades for you there’ll also be a virtual try offering both online and in-store for all products except the nail varnish.
