Last autumn, Katie Holmes invoked a cult trend after being pictured wearing an oatmeal-coloured cashmere cardigan, and beneath it, a coordinating bra. Imminently, the ‘bradigan’ became a thing and the star’s casual yet chic look was hailed as the most iconic fashion moment of 2019. Though it certainly isn’t staying there.
Soon after Katie’s viral pap shots, in which she was casually sporting the look, from popular New York-based brand Khaite, while hailing a cab, the high street caught on. Well, not all of us can fork out $520 for a bra and additional $1,540 for a matching sweater.
Unsurprisingly, fashion-forward Zara was the first retailer to replicate the chic look by releasing its own knitted bradigan. The neutral twinset, which consisted of slightly more fabric than the original, became an instant hit with shoppers keen to recreate Katie’s outfit and thus, it was a sell-out success. And luckily for us, they have just dropped a new 2020 take on the style, this time complete with matching shorts.
The light brown knits consist of a cropped V-neck cardigan with a button up front and patch pockets priced at £25.99, a crop top with a similar V-neck design and straps for £15.99, and finally, matching high-waisted shorts with an elastic waistband and ribbed hems for just £19.99.
The dreamy cool-girl look is set to be even more popular than Zara’s first release (which has also been restocked, for those interested) so make sure you place your order while you can.
Wear it all together or style the top and bottom individually, wearing the top half with a pair of jeans like Katie while the temperatures are still a little low. Or, pick your favourite half of the co-ord and invest in that solo – the neutral colour will never go out of style, so it’s a worthy investment regardless of which element you choose.
