Zara has just launched an amazing capsule collection of coats

Have you heard the term party coat? We’re talking an outfit-making coat that is the main event in itself, rather than a support act. And Zara has just launched a capsule collection that fulfils the brief perfectly.

Zara Atelier is a new offering from the phenomenally popular high street retailer, ‘offering the most comprehensive expression of high-end design and exquisite craftsmanship at the company’. There will be two limited edition drops a year, each one offering ‘elevated’ and ‘artisitic’ interpretations of a wardrobe staple.

The first collection focuses on coats, and gives them an extremely decadent treatment. Zara explains: ‘Spanning dreamy, decorative cocktail coats for evening and densely-worked poncho and overcoat styles for day, the six-piece outerwear capsule is replete with couture touches – a marabou-trimmed collar here, a sequin-embroidered lapel there – mixed with modern, wearable shapes’.

Introducing the Zara Atelier coats

oriental style coat

An ankle-length cape coat is embroidered with oriental-inspired floral designs and velvet appliqué, with a dramatic tasseled closure.

A floral jacquard cocoon coat in black and champagne shades is darkly seductive thanks to sprays of feathers at the throat.

zara poncho

A poncho coat incorporates a vibrant patchwork in fuchsia and faded sapphire-blue hues, shot through with metallic jacquard.

astrology coat

A canvas-effect overcoat in an astrology-themed jacquard, elevated with an inky blue detachable faux-fur collar, sparkling emerald studs and vermilion satin piping.
