Tired to applying endless layers of product to your skin? Meet the multi-tasking hero that’s flying off the shelves – Youth Lab CC Complete Cream.
The balm has already earned cult status around the world, with one tube selling every 60 seconds on a global basis. Now it’s arrived on the UK high street at Boots, and is set to be just as popular on our shores.
CC creams are nothing new, so what makes this one so special? Youth Lab describes it as a skincare-make-up hybrid, doing the worth of a serum, moisturiser, foundation and sun cream (it offers SPF 30 protection, plus UVA and UVB filters) in one go.
There’s also two different formulations on offer so that you can select the best one to suit your skin type – one for either normal or dry skin, and the other for oily skin. The active ingredients include phytosterols for a hit of hydration, and unilucent, a bio-active plant extract that boosts brightness.
Now the big question: does it actually work? The sales figures speak for themselves, although online reviews are mixed, with an average of 3.5 star on Beauty Bay. While some criticise the product’s oil control capabilities, many more satisfied shoppers have praised the cream’s lightweight look and colour-adapt technology.
‘I love this cc cream,’ wrote one. ‘First I used the tester and I am overwhelmed. Really great if you don’t use a lot of foundation.’
Another more sceptical purchaser said that initially the colour didn’t work for their Asian skin tone, but ‘after 10 minutes I didn’t look ashy or grey, it had surprisingly adjusted to my skin tone like it claimed.
‘It has a flawless finish, great for my normal-oily combination skin and good light coverage as you’d expect for a cc cream.’
So, if you have very oily skin, or prefer a full coverage foundation, Youth Lab CC cream may not be for you – but if you want an all-rounder that will shrink the number of steps in your daily routine and withstand the heat, it might be the best investment you make this summer.
