You can now get paid to taste test Sunday roasts

Everybody’s version of the ‘dream job’ is different. But there’s something we can all agree on: some jobs are universally dream-worthy. Think cuddling koala bears or testing out beds as a professional napper; these sorts of things are undeniably up there. And the latest to join the line-up is a real job opportunity where you’ll be paid to review Sunday roasts. Yes, really.

Restaurant chain The Botanist is now offering one lucky applicant the chance to become their Sunday roast tester, in exchange for a chunk of cash, lots of free meals and well, the prestige of being the chosen one.

The Botanist shared the job alert to Instagram yesterday, writing: ‘Dream Job alert. Can you appreciate a good roast potato? If you know what makes a special spud or a how-to build roast worth a boast, then we have got the perfect weekend job for you!’

They added: ‘We’re on the hunt for a paid roast reviewer who will make sure our new sharing roast is always share-worthy! The role has been created to ensure our ‘family-style sharing roasts’ are up to their Sunday Best.’

The successful applicant will need to attend a tasting session with up to five loved ones on Sunday 19 September, where they will test out the restaurant’s family-style sharing roasts, which come in five options: roast sirloin of beef, roast chicken, pot roast lamb shoulder, slow roast honey-glazed pork belly or celeriac, mushroom and pearl barley Wellington.

As The Botanist’s chief Sunday roast tester, after the session, they will then be required to write either a 500-word review or film a 60-second video for TikTok or Instagram.

In exchange, the ‘Pro-tato Tester’ will receive a staggering £500 fee, as well as a free monthly roast for two for an entire year.

To apply, you’ll need to visit the website and write a 500-word short essay on why you’re the perfect person for the job. Applications close on 12 September, so hurry on over!
