Woolworths pick and mix is making a comeback just in time for Christmas

If the thought of strolling the aisle of your local Woolworths and filling a cup or bag with candy gives you an instant pang of nostalgia, we’ve got excellent news for you. The now-defunct store’s much loved pick and mix range is making a comeback for Christmas, albeit in a slightly different form.

While you sadly won’t be able to return to a physical shop to select your sweets in person, online retailer Very is selling Woolworths-branded jars of Pic’ N Mix that are stuffed to the brim with old favourites, including dolly mixtures, jelly snakes, Fruit Salads, liquorice allsorts and more.

The quirky time capsules are obviously a great way to walk down memory lane yourself, but would also make a brilliant gift for the sugar lover in your life this festive season. There’s four different versions up for grabs: a true mix of all of the classics, plus jars devoted to solely dolly mixtures, liquorice allsorts and jelly snakes, so can whittle it down to just their top ‘pick’, if you prefer.

Even better, there’s a charitable excuse for indulging your sweet tooth: 100 per cent of the profits are going to the brand’s charity partner Coram Beanstalk, which recruits, trains and supports volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support in primary schools.

Jeremy Stevens, Very category director, said of the idea: ‘So many of us have fond childhood memories of Woolworths’ amazing selection of sweets. The launch of this much-loved product is a fun and nostalgic way to support our charity partner, Coram Beanstalk, to help them raise much needed funds for the great work they do.’

Ginny Lunn, the MD of the organisation, added: ‘Coram Beanstalk is as happy as a child in a sweet shop to be receiving 100 per cent of the profits from Very’s launch of Woolworths Pic’n Mix. The money raised will go towards helping those children who need extra support to catch up after this year of disrupted schooling.’
