This year has changed the way we holiday, possibly for the long term. Many of us have shunned getting on a plane in order to go on our yearly beach holiday, instead opting for a staycation closer to home. But the travel and tourism industry have felt the effects of our new habits in order to remain safe, and some areas that are dependent on tourists have really been suffering.
Mexico is one country that relies heavily on tourism, and in a bid to encourage more visits, they have offered everything from free hotels to meals and even theme park tickets. But in what is perhaps their most enticing incentive yet, the country is offering one lucky winner the chance to holiday in Mexico once a year for the next two decades.
The Hotel Associations of Cancun, Puerto Morelos & Isla Mujeres, the Riviera Maya, Cozumel, and the Grand Costa Maya have all teamed up in order to make this competition happen, which you can now enter via social media.
The winner will get a certificate for an all-inclusive holiday for two at popular resorts across the Mexican Caribbean for the next 20 years, and can pick out of a range of any of the four or five star hotels from the list. The certificate allows you to bring someone along and stay for five or six nights at your chosen hotel.
In order to enter, you have to hop on over to your social media accounts. Simply follow @Come2MexicanCaribbean on Instagram or TikTok, before uploading a photo or video Then upload your related to the Mexican Caribbean on Instagram or TikTok, tagging @Come2MexicanCaribbean, and using the hashtag #Come2MexicanCaribbean. According to the website, the more likes and shares you get, the more likely you are to win. You can even post multiple times to increase your likelihood of winning.
The only stipulations are that you must be 18 or over, and you must enter by the 9th November, 2020.
It’s important to point out that the UK Government are still advising us to avoid all but necessary travel abroad, except for countries that are exempt, which sadly Mexico is not. It is therefore not currently considered safe to travel to the country from the UK due to coronavirus.
However, as the winner will have 20 years worth of certificates, there’s always next year (or the next, or the next…)!
