The more years that go past, the more we can appreciate the style in Friends. Rachel Green’s wardrobe in particular never failed to impress, whether it was with her early kitschy knee-high socks and skirt combos, or the later years where she upped her game and offered up a sophisticated range of looks. But one item Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel will always be remembered for in Friends is the mint dress she rocked in the episode where everybody’s getting ready to leave for Ross’ work do.
In ‘The One Where No One’s Ready’ (season 3, episode 2), Rachel memorably takes ages to find her perfect look for the museum benefit, driving Ross up the wall in the process. Eventually, however, Rachel comes out of her room in a mint dress with a gorgeous square neckline, which wows both her man and the audience watching Friends.
The iconic dress is a winner even now, a whopping 27 years on, and Whistles certainly knows a good thing when they see it, as they’ve now come out with the most perfect dupe. The Maria Bridesmaid dress in Mint may technically be for weddings, but it can totally be worn for other occasions to covet everybody’s favourite Friends fashionista.
The £199 dress has the same flattering square neckline, along with that dreamy pale green hue, and a cross-strap back and side split. The dress is so similar to Rachel’s, it’s flown out of stock in many sizes, meaning you may not be in luck if you’re after the design.
However, as well as Whistles’ official website, it’s also sold over on John Lewis and Selfridges, and between the three you may manage to snap it up. Or you can at least keep hitting that refresh button until more stock comes in.
Alternatively, if it’s the colour you like, the brand does have another similar style with a high neck and for the same price tag, which is arguably equally as lovely.
