Now that weddings, nights out and parties are back on the cards, it’s likely your social calendar is looking the fullest it’s been since February 2020. But with a long line of catch up drinks, belated birthday celebrations and postponed weddings on the horizon, we need a wardrobe to see us through.
Until just a few months ago, we haven’t had much (read: any) reason to buy occasion wear, but now the opportunity presents itself once more we are diving headfirst into the magical world of party dresses. If you’ve an impending event that you need a dress for, there’s one in particularly that all the influencers are loving on Instagram right now – and it costs less than £60.
Warehouse‘s black satin cut-out dress has been going down a storm on Instagram lately, with all the most stylish influencers snapping themselves in the stylish number, including Brittany Bathgate, Polly Sayer and Jessie Bush (who proves it even works with a bump). Cut-outs have been a big trend for spring summer 21, whether that’s a slash of exposed skin across the chest, shoulder or back. But one of the most on-trend placements for a cut-out is on either side of the waist, and it’s unexpectedly flattering.
Not only does a cut-out here accentuate the shape of the waist, it’s subtly sexy without flashing too much skin and adds a subversive nod to an otherwise demure dress. Case in point, the aforementioned Warehouse cut-out dress: the black satin fabric and statement puff sleeves keeps things firmly in the eveningwear category, while the waist cut-outs add a fashion-forward layer to proceedings.
Not so keen on the black? It’s also available in turquoise and coral for a brighter look. A mini version is also available in black, navy and traffic-stopping yellow, so there are plenty of options available within the style.
At £69, the midi version of the Warehouse cut-out dress was already a bargain, but it’s currently in the sale for even less at £52.20 (and the mini version is now £47.20 down from £59). Unsurprisingly, sizes are disappearing fast, so we’d suggest hopping to it if you fancy adding it to your wardrobe.
