Waitrose just launched a Christmas version of its popular avocado chocolate egg

Christmas is the peak season for any chocoholic as it means indulging in as much chocolate as you want for the entire month of December. Whether its opening up your Cadbury calendar every day or tucking into a tin of seasonal favourites, there is certainly no shortage of chocolate this time of year.

Fortunately, this also means that many retailers and supermarkets get a bit more creative with their chocolate products. And while its partner John Lewis may be offering Quality Street pick and mix and customisable gourmet Kit Kats, Waitrose has just introduced us to its new, festive avocado-shaped chocolate egg.

You might remember that the supermarket first debuted its avocado shaped egg back in spring in the lead up to Easter, and it quickly became the store’s fastest selling Easter egg and of course, the talk of the press. Well this Christmas, they have launched a festive version of the popular egg and it looks equally divine.

Dubbed the ‘Christmas avocado’, the sweet treat has a dark chocolate shell but also features white chocolate with caramel decoration and gold coloured cocoa dusting. The special egg is priced at £7.20 and is available both in stores and online, undoubtedly providing a fun solution to Secret Santa dilemmas up and down the country.

However, this isn’t the only enticing chocolate offering on the high street this year.  Cadbury’s recently unveiled a Secret Santa Workshop at House of Fraser on Oxford Street – a pop-up where customers can make their very own personalised selection boxes containing all of their favourite chocolates.

We’re talking all the classics, from the original Dairy Milk chocolate bar to the popular Twirl as well as new additions such as  the Dairy Milk Orange Mousse Snowman and of course, those powdery white Snow Balls. If there’s a better edible self-gift out there, we haven’t found it yet.
