June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month and to celebrate, lots of brands are creating special limited-edition (often rainbow-themed) items, with the proceeds going to LGBTQ+ charities and organisations.
Victoria Beckham’s eponymous fashion brand has partnered with the Albert Kennedy Trust (or Akt, a voluntary organisation in England that helps lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender young people who are facing homelessness or living in a hostile environment) for the past two years and is supporting them again this year for the third time with the release of an exclusive T-shirt and patent leather pouch. 100 per cent of the profits made from both items will be donated to the charity.
Both the T-shirt and leather pouch feature the slogan ‘proud and wannabe you lover’ in colourful rainbow lettering, which is of course a nod to the Spice Girls’ iconic debut single, released 25 years ago this year (we know, we can’t believe it either). To celebrate the launch and Pride Month, the former Posh Spice teamed up with her Spice Girls cohorts (Emma, Geri, Mel B and Mel C) to model the T-shirt, which can be seen in the below Instagram video – and of course, there was only one song that could be the soundtrack…
Speaking about the Victoria Beckham Pride T-shirt and pouch, the designer said in a statement: ‘Pride to me is a celebration of being completely yourself and this year’s T-shirt is a reminder of that. The Spice Girls really championed accepting yourself and others, being kind, having fun and just living your best life.’
The Victoria Beckham Pride T-shirt and patent pouch are available to shop from today in-store at 36 Dover Street, London, and online at victoriabeckham.com.
