With several very successful designer collaborations – with the likes of JW Anderson and Jil Sander – under its belt, Uniqlo is quickly establishing itself as the go-to for high street designer collaborations.
Now, the high street brand is back with yet another collaboration, this time with achingly cool Italian fashion house Marni. While normally a Marni piece would be far out of reach for most of us to afford, this collection brings the signature Marni aesthetic to the masses, with prices starting from just £12.90.
Not one for the sartorially shy, the collection is full of fun prints and bright colours, all jumbled together for an utterly joyful aesthetic. From graphic checks to doodle-style florals and painterly gingham, it’s a true hit of dopamine dressing – a big trend for spring/summer 2022. This is fashion with the volume turned right up.
‘Playing with the distinctive colour combinations that make MARNI unique,’ reads the Uniqlo website, ‘the UNIQLO and MARNI collection features ginghams, stripes, original hand-painted floral prints, and checks in a variety of styles and proportions.’
Volume is another key characteristic, with big puffball skirts and oversized shirts at play. Co-ords are trending this season and the Uniqlo x Marni collection has some great ones in boxy shapes – a fresh antithesis to the flesh-baring, bodycon styles we’re seeing a lot of this season.
