Hot on the heels of Uniqlo’s latest designer collaboration with JW Anderson, the high street brand has just launched a brand new collection in partnership with legendary designer Jil Sander. The brand and designer have collaborated several times in the past, but haven’t done so for over a decade, making this a hotly anticipated collection for fashion lovers.
Jil Sander is known for her minimalistic, pure and sophisticated design aesthetic, and when she made her high quality tailored look accessible to the masses in 2009 through her first partnership with Uniqlo, dubbed +J, it was revolutionary. And now Uniqlo +J returns once more, with prices starting from just £14.99.
Launching today, the collection certainly is one to get excited about. ‘The Autumn/Winter 2020 +J collection features sophisticated essentials for women and men,’ reads the Uniqlo website.
‘Inspired by a sense of enlightened understatement, the collection consists of versatile, iconic pieces. Detailed tailoring and sculptural shapes lead to balanced proportions, comfort and ease. Distinct lines give definition to moving panels and dynamic 3D silhouettes. Volumes, while generous, leave room for individuality.’
Jil Sander has said: ‘I set out to define the global modern uniform with this in mind: Clothes should be long-lasting and enduring. They should serve the wearer and give her or him the energy and self-assurance which is so much needed in our global reality.’
Unsurprisingly, there’s plenty of outerwear, including ultra light and hybrid down puffer jackets, utility-inspired jackets and some gorgeous cashmere blend coats. Knitwear features heavily, too, including turtlenecks, crew neck jumpers and cardigans, all in a deep colour palette of navy, forest green, black and berry, as well as lots of shirting options in a paler range of shades.
Trousers, skirts, dresses, T-shirts and accessories bulk out the rest of the collection, as well as an accompanying menswear collection, too. Shop every piece in the Uniqlo Jil Sander AW20 womenswear collection here.
