Uber Eats is delivering ‘emergency turkeys’ to London residents

With the new tier 4 rulings, the majority of UK families will experience a huge change in their Christmas plans this year. And some of us will likely be stuck inside, unable to go ‘home home’ for a Christmas dinner with family, leading to many having to unexpectedly cook a meal for themselves now.

The rush to get to the supermarket and book out delivery slots has been evident, but it’s a stressful and sometimes unsuccessful venture. Enter: Uber Eats, who have announced they will be delivering ‘emergency turkeys’ to those who now need food to cook for Christmas Day after their plans changed.

The Uber Eats emergency turkey delivery service is currently only available for London residents, but it sounds pretty amazing from what we’ve heard. For just £20, you can buy a whole turkey from the app, or for a lesser fee of £10, a turkey crown. Each turkey will also come with a side of vegetables and some stuffing, and will arrive in a cool bag, frozen and ready to be popped into the freezer or kept out if ordered close enough to the 25th. And if you’re not sure how to cook it, why not follow Mary Berry’s recipe for a roast turkey crown?

The full turkeys and turkey crowns can be ordered via the app between the dates of Tuesday 22 December and Thursday 24 December. These orders can be placed between the hours of noon and 6pm.

According to Metro, Toussaint Wattinne, general manager of Uber Eats in the UK, said of this amazing venture: ‘Christmas is somewhat different this year, especially for those who suddenly find themselves in tier 4 without being able to see friends and family.’

‘It may be far from perfect this year, but being able to order an emergency turkey along with the trimmings will help people in tier 4 make the most of Christmas at an affordable price.’

Given that most supermarkets have ran out of pre-Christmas delivery slots and queues outside of the shops themselves are pretty eye-watering, Uber Eats emergency turkey delivery service sounds like a really great option for those of us in the capital.
