Every now and then, there’s a high street buy that the style set on Instagram just can’t get enough of. And although more often than not it’s a statement piece you’ll start to see everywhere (remember the summer of the infamous Zara polka dot dress?), sometimes it’s a staple basic that you might even realise everyone is wearing until it’s pointed out.
Case in point: Topshop’s black faux leather leggings, which are popping up on social media feeds left right and centre this autumn, thanks to their amazingly versatile look and surprisingly comfortable fit.
Leather leggings and trousers have been on the trend agenda for some time, but Topshop has made a few adjustments to the typical offering which really set theirs apart. They’re designed with a horizontal knee seam for a premium look well beyond their £35.99 price tag, they’re also relatively high waisted, which makes them ideal for the signature Tan France French tuck we’re all sporting right now.
Dress them up with a smart coat or blazer and knee high boots or go casual with a hoodie and trainers – either way, they’ll add a touch of biker chic to your finished ensemble.
Add to this the fact they come in a choice regular and petite lengths, meaning a much more tailored look for shoppers with smaller frames, and you’ll have at least some idea of why they’ve become such a hit.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Topshop leather leggings flew out of stock when they first landed on the brand’s website, but now they’re back in stock in both lengths, with sizes 6-18 in regular and 4-16 in petite.
Our advice? Snap them up before everyone else realises they’re been restocked – when a piece looks like luxury but feels like loungewear, it won’t stick around for long…
