The Queen is unsurprisingly always seen looking immaculate, sporting bright pastel outfits, decadent hats and her staple pearl necklaces and broaches. And while most of us store our clothing in a humble wardrobe, HRH has a much more ‘royal’ way of picking an outfit and getting dressed in the morning, it has just been revealed.
The Queen’s former royal butler Paul Burrell revealed to Yahoo’s Royal Box that her majesty does not pop on through to her wardrobe to pick her own outfits in the morning like most of us would, but instead has a whole floor of clothing that her dressers will sketch out options from, finally bringing down her chosen ensemble(s) for her to see in real life.
‘She has to have her outfits brought down to her, all her clothes are kept on the top floor,’ he said.
‘Her dresser will bring down in the morning two outfits, which are sketched with pieces of material clipped to them so that the Queen can remember whether it’s silk or cotton or wool.’
‘The one the Queen picks is the one which is brought downstairs from up above so she doesn’t actually see her wardrobe with clothes in it.’
While this unique, very thought out way of choosing an outfit is enviable, it’s the Queen’s many colourful looks themselves that catch her many fans’ attention the most.
HRH is undeniably known for her bright, bold looks that have seen her wear all colours in the rainbow, from yellows to blues to reds.
But why does she go for such eye-catching shades? Sali Hughes, author of Our Rainbow Queen, writes that it’s because “she believes it’s her duty to be seen by the people who’ve waited, wet and cold, behind barriers for hours at a time.”
She continues: “She understands her job is to be seen and, standing at just 5’3…[she] needs all the help she can get.”
Whatever the reason, we’re sure her fans wouldn’t want it any other way!
