This cult £6 skin-clearing product from The Ordinary has just come back into stock

The coronavirus outbreak has affected more aspects of our lives than we’d care to count, but one conversation we’re seeing time and time again is the major impact on our skin.

For some of us, it’s dryness, others, a severe lack of radiance, but for many, it’s lockdown breakouts that have become an ongoing battle. However, if the latter sounds familiar and you haven’t yet tried The Ordinary’s AHA/BHA Peeling Solution, there may be an affordable solution just a few clicks away.

The £6 bottle has been gaining cult status on TikTok amongst teenagers who swear it’s totally cleared their acne, as well as helping with scarring. One user, Kaelyn White, even sparked a reported 100,000 sales of the product when she shared her transformation on the social media app. The product regularly sells out on sites such as Cult Beauty, recently garnering a waitlist of 104,000 people on the beauty retail site. Thankfully, it has just come back into stock, but we advise moving fast if you want to get ahead of those other 104,000 eager shoppers.

But there’s no age limit on the benefits of the 10-minute treatment, which combines alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) to exfoliate the top layer of skin and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) to penetrate deeper and help to reduce congestion. Simply apply it to clean, dry skin, then let it work its magic for 10 minutes before rinsing away.

While these acids can be extremely effective, especially when it comes to improving texture and tone, they can cause irritation, which is why The Ordinary has included a Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative proven to help reduce this reaction, plus a form of hyaluronic acid for comfort in its formula.

However, you should still perform a patch test before your first use; if your skin is generally quite sensitive, you may find that gentler acids are a better fit for your complexion. And crucially, never use the product without following with an SPF, as it will increase your sensitivity to the sun.

This all may sound a little scary – especially when coupled with the vivid red colour of the liquid itself – but if you heed all of the warnings and peel responsibly, the AHA/BHA blend can be a gamechanger in your routine. After all, there’s a reason it flies out of stock time and time again and has generated hundreds of positive customer reviews.

‘I adore this product. I took it to my dermatologist when I bought it. She was very impressed and approved me using it once a week,’ says one on the Deciem website.

‘This peel changed my skin in so many beautiful ways 🙏🏻 best skin care product I’ve ever purchased anywhere,’ agrees another, while a third writes: ‘This product have saved my skin and done miracles. I had problem skin, huge pores and pigment spots. My skin is now clean, smooth and soooo pretty.’

For the same price as a couple of takeaway coffees, that’s glowing praise indeed.
