The Lightbox: What we’re talking about at YOU this week

Welcome to The Lightbox, your weekly roundup of what we’re talking about at YOU by our very own Editorial Assistant, Charlotte Vossen. This week, we’re watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians, booking Airbnbs and buying pre-loved fashion.

Watch: Keeping Up with the Kardashians on hayu

KUWTK

After fourteen years of televised family arguments, birthday parties and cheating scandals, Keeping Up with the Kardashians is coming to an end, and we can’t help but be a little bit sad about it. The final season of the reality TV series premiered in the UK today and with only a number of episodes to go until we have to say goodbye, we can only hope that America’s most controversial family is going out with a bang. New episodes of KUWTK are available to stream and download on hayu every Friday, the same day as in the US.

Buy: Pre-loved fashion

Pre-loved fashion is booming. According to the new recommerce report by eBay, which reveals a global rise in second-hand selling in 2020, 81 percent of their UK customers have bought pre-owned goods in the last 12 months. Generation Z, who is also very active on other online marketplaces such as Depop and Vinted, is named as the biggest driver of pre-owned fashion sales, while the positive financial and environmental impact are quoted as the two main benefits of recommerce.

Download: Thursday dating app

Thursday

If you’re looking to switch up your dating app game, this newcomer might do the trick . Launching in London next month, before being rolled out in other cities in the UK in May, Thursday only works one day a week – you guessed it – on Thursdays. Matches and conversations will disappear at midnight, so the idea is to match, chat and go on a date the same day. To download the app in the App Store or Google Play Store, you’ll need an invite link, and all members will be verified using either a driving licence or passport.

Stay: The most wishlisted homes in the UK on Airbnb

The Pigsty

Airbnb released its top 21 most wishlisted homes by Brits for 2021, and to no one’s surprise, they’re all located in the UK. With an increase in searches for staycations as a result of the pandemic, the booking platform notes we have swapped our exotic excursions for post-lockdown rural retreats. Tucked away in a corner of a working farm, the Pigsty in Winchester – a wooden dome with stunning countryside views, a king-size bed and a roll top bath – tops the list of bookmarked luxury cabins and farm barns, and it’s not hard to see why.
