The Lightbox: What we’re talking about at YOU this week

Welcome to The Lightbox, your weekly roundup of what we’re talking about at YOU by our very own Editorial Assistant, Charlotte Vossen. This week, we’re trying out at-home dessert kits, splurging on SPFs and relaxing to the audio-visual spectacle that is Earth Moods.

Read: Working Hard, Hardly Working by Grace Beverley

As someone who has amassed a million followers on Instagram, set up two successful fitness brands and made the Forbes 30 under 30 retail and e-commerce list all by the age of 24, Grace Beverley is someone to take advice from. In her first book, the entrepreneur challenges the impossible work-life balance many of us have been told to maintain. With sections dedicated to redefining productivity, creating your own balance and feeling fulfilled, this self-help book teaches you to work smarter, not harder. £14.99, Waterstones

Splurge: The Sunshine Edit by Cult Beauty

Cult Beauty

On the hunt for some new summer skin essentials? Cult Beauty just released The Sunshine Edit, a selection of seven skincare heroes worth over £135 to cleanse, hydrate and protect your skin before, during and after sun exposure. With travel size products like Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen SPF 30 and Kopari Beauty’s Beach Deodorant, you’ll get a chance to test some of the most talked-about products. Although it’s worth getting the box for the full-size Dark Spot Sun Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 by Dr. Dennis Gross since it’s one of our favourite SPFs for everyday protection. £40, Cult Beauty

Watch: Earth Moods on Disney+

Not your usual National Geographic production, Earth Moods is a visual and soundscape experience, rather than a documentary. Each 31-minute episode is an escape from everyday life, as it takes you to unexplored and exotic corners of the world. There are no words in the five-part series, but the calming music perfectly carries the impressive flyover shots of frozen landscapes, dazzling city lights, tropical beaches, golden deserts and nature’s patterns. Earth Moods is now streaming on Disney +

Indulge: Dessert kits by Mon Dessert

Mon Dessert

We love an at-home meal kit – there’s less food waste, plenty of recipes to choose from and the portions are usually perfectly sized – and the dessert kits by Mon Dessert tick all of these boxes. Whether you treat yourself once or opt for a monthly subscription, you’ll receive all the non-perishable ingredients, essential kitchen tools and a recipe card. The tarte au citron kit is their newest addition – did we mention it’s vegan and gluten-free? But you can never go wrong with classics like madeleines or crème brûlée. From £19.95, Mon Dessert

Try: Ubering to your vaccination

Back in January, Uber announced they were offering £15 off trips to or from seven mass-vaccination centres in England. The ride-hailing company has now further extended their offer until May 31st, and they even added 35 more locations – you can find the full list of vaccination hubs here. All you need to do is get a vaccination appointment, book an Uber to drop you off or pick you up at one of the listed centres, and enter the promo code ‘uber2hubUK’ at checkout for the discount.
