The Lightbox: What we’re talking about at YOU this week

Welcome to The Lightbox, your weekly roundup of what we’re talking about at YOU by our very own Editorial Assistant, Charlotte Vossen. This week, we’re eating *that* baked feta pasta, watching Netflix’s new hit series Firefly Lane and some of us are even exploring digital dating…

Try: Digital Dates

There are plenty of reasons why going on a first date on Valentine’s Day might seem like a bad idea, but since we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic, why not schedule in a last-minute online rendezvous this weekend? According to dating app Hinge, 63% of their users are open to a virtual date. A good old-fashioned game night tops the list of most popular activities, but if you’re looking to keep things uncomplicated, simply chatting and getting to know each other is always a good option too.

Watch: Firefly Lane on Netflix

Based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, Firefly Lane follows best friends Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) from when they meet at age fourteen into their adult lives of wealth and fame, and marriage and motherhood. While it might take an episode or two to get into it, the 10-part series meets all the binge-watch requirements – a love triangle, time jumps that make you nostalgic for 70s hairstyles and 80s fashion, and a season-ending cliffhanger that calls for a second season.

Eat: Pasta!

The great thing about TikTok is that anyone and anything can go viral, and currently our feeds are flooded with people taking on baked feta pasta. Created by Finnish food blogger Jenni Häyrinen in 2019, ‘uunifetapasta’ (that’s the Finnish translation) is a quick and easy recipe for a creamy pasta that consists of adding some feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, garlic cloves and seasoning to oven tray and baking it for 25 minutes. Bookmark the original recipe here, because it’s one you’ll want to save.

Splurge: Mini Mulberry
