Universally flattering cut? Check. Lightweight, breathable fabric? Check. On-trend ruching and stripes? Check. Kate Middleton’s latest outfit, which she debuted at a polo match last weekend, ticks all of the summer dress boxes – and best of all, it’s from one of our favourite high street heroes, Zara.
The Duchess of Cambridge was pictured running around after her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, looking incredibly stylish in the brand’s £39.99 striped off-the-shoulder dress.
Little Prince Louis, the family’s newest arrival, however, was not pictured, with many royal watchers suggesting that he would have been at home with their nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.
Kate chose the fashion-forward frock to watch husband Prince William play at the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy at Beaufort Polo Club – an event to raise money for the Royal Marsden cancer hospital and homelessness charity Centrepoint.
Teaming the dress with a pair of comfortable neutral wedges and sunglasses propped up on her head, the 36-year-old schooled us all in the art of casual chic.
Unsurprisingly, the dress sold out on the Zara website in a matter of minutes – but her £125 Russell and Bromley Coco-Nut espadrille shoes, however, are currently available in every size, having been restocked after an initial flurry of Kate-inspired purchases.
The last Zara dress Kate wore (the store’s flocked print cotton dress, an embroidered number in a similar pastel shade of blue) also flew off the shelves, selling out within days of her wearing it at an equestrian event in Houghton, Norfolk.
Kate’s not the only member of the Royal Family to have found a bargain on the shelves at Zara – Princess Beatrice has previously been snapped in a Zara satin blazer, whilst sister-in-law Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has posed in a pair of black open-backed Zara flats in the past.
