Whether you’re single or partnered up, live with your significant other, friends, family or just your cat, we’re making the case for celebrating Valentine’s Day regardless this year. After all, we all need any excuse to celebrate right now, and the wonders of video calling mean date night can still go ahead, even if you’re miles apart.
With that in mind, take the pressure off cooking a romantic meal on 14 February and tuck into one of these Valentine’s Day meal deals from the supermarkets – they’re all excellent value and ensure a delicious three-course menu, normally with a bottle of wine or bubbles thrown in, too.

For £20, Waitrose’s Valentine’s Day meal deal offering includes a starter (such as Heston from Waitrose Bloody Mary Prawn Cocktail), main (options include a rack of lamb with roasted garlic and rosemary butter), two sides (this could be a baby leaf salad and parmentier potatoes, for example) and a dessert (try Heston Blumenthal’s latest sweet creation: Espresso Martini Chocolate Tortes), plus your choice of a bottle of wine (including fizz) or a box of chocolates.

Arguably the supermarket that invented the ‘dine in for…’ meal, we can always rely on M&S to serve up a knockout Valentine’s meal deal with excellent value. This year’s is £20 for a starter, main, side, dessert, bottle of wine or fizz and box of chocolates – depending on your choices, you could save up to £16.50. They’ve upped their selection of vegan and vegetarian-friendly options this year, but we’re particularly excited about the ‘Love Linguine’, with 50cm-long strands of pasta (perfect for recreating that Lady and the Tramp scene).

Tesco’s £15 Valentine’s Day meal deal includes meat, fish and plant-based options with a choice of starter, main, side and dessert, as well as a full bottle of Tesco Finest wine, Prosecco, or a non-alcoholic alternative (for those extending Dry January). Options include a chicken Cabernet Sauvignon, slow cooked beef bourguignon or Wicked Kitchen’s vegan ‘no-beef’ wellington for main, and a raspberry & passionfruit cheesecake or double chocolate profiteroles for dessert, among others.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Sainsbury’s Dinner for Two for just £20 or under. The offer allows you to indulge in a starter, main, side and dessert as well as either wine or Cocoa & Co chocolate truffles to accompany the meal. There are over 30 dishes to choose from, and highlights include a Taste the Difference sirloin steak with heart-shaped butter, Taste the Difference scallop gratin and the Plant Pioneers vegan ‘steaks’.

Morrisons’s Valentines Dine in for Two offer gets you a starter, main, two sides and dessert, plus a bottle of wine, soft drink or chocolates, all for £15. The offer spans lots of new products, plus vegans are well-catered for with a fully plant-based three course menu.
All part of the supermarket’s ‘The Best’ range, starters range from a vegan chorizo palmier to a camembert tear and share bread; mains include salmon with honey & fennel butter and a mushroom and leek bake; while dessert could be raspberry panna cotta or tarte au citron.

Asda’s Extra Special dine in for two for £15 deal includes a choice of starter, main, two sides, dessert and, new for 2021, choose from a drink or a Thornton’s box of chocolates to complete the meal. Whatever you choose, be it the steak with pink peppercorn butter or Melt My Heart vegan burgers, you’ll save a minimum of £8.

Aldi have two-course Valentine’s menus available, which include a main, side and starter or dessert for two people, the cheapest of which comes in at under £4 per person. Get steak, chips and mini pancakes for under a tenner, or go for the ‘seafood lovers’ option which includes oysters, salmon encroute and a vegetable medley for less than £12. And while you’re there, we suggest picking up their heart-shaped tear-and-share bread with oozy camembert middle for just £2.99.

Get a delicious dine in for two meal for just £10 from Jack’s, the budget supermarket from Tesco. Enjoy a rich and creamy Le Rustique Camembert to start, then tuck into a main of tender beef steaks, buttery mashed potatoes and a green vegetable medley. To finish things off, indulge in two melting middle chocolate sponge puddings.
